Annual Global EduHub Championships continue to attract an increasing number of participants from Southeast Asia.
Singapore, 12 March 2018 – Since 2015, Global EduHub has been the title sponsor of the annual Global EduHub Championships, a badminton tournament sanctioned by the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) as part of its age group series. The tournament has been gaining prominence over the years, attracting over 600 participants from Southeast Asia between the ages of 9 to 17.
Organized by World Champ Singapore, the Global EduHub Championships features both boys’ and girls’ categories, in singles, doubles and mixed doubles, with $24,000 worth of cash and prizes. As a new initiative, when students participate in the competition, they will accumulate points that will go into the badminton ranking system for all locals, permanent residents and foreign students studying in Singapore.
Chief Operating Officer of Global EduHub, Peh Yi Han, said, “As an educational group, we are all about preparing young children for the future. We believe that a sport like badminton helps prepare them because you get to learn many different skills in the process, you need discipline, you need focus, of course you need resilience and teamwork as well. We also want to teach kids that doing well is not necessarily winning, but learning how to fail and coming back from the failure is very important for their future.”
He added, “The moment you step into the venue, you can feel the high level of energy, excitement and passion from all the young players. We hope that by having competitions like these, we can provide a platform where the players can come in and enjoy themselves in a safe environment and at the same time, participate in a competition with international standards. We look at playing an integral role in unearthing future talents.”
